We are back from our spring break vacation and some of us had a wonderful time. This cruise was for the kids' birthday. My parents also went on the same cruise and it's always a great time being with them. Four of us had a great time and stayed healthy, however, Sterling and Nick went down fast! It was wild and I felt so bad for Sterling. It was a good thing our itinerary changed because of weather.
My favorite view on the cruise app!
Because of the change we stopped at the beach for day 2. I love Castaway Cay so much. We've been there four times and each visit gets better.
We're always calling Xander grandpa, so it was fitting he held Papa's cane so they could take a character picture.
My favorite view. Relaxing in the beach chair.
My mom, Xander, Sterlng and I all swam out to the "island part" in the middle of the ocean (the black dot on the left side of the picture.) It was amazing! It was all of our most favorite part of the cruise. We just couldn't believe we did it. I've never gone in past my knees before, ha! Sometimes you just do things because your kids ask.
Keeping traditions alive, we rode our favorite trikes. This time Nick and I (on the red) went together and then the kids (on the yellow). Thanks mom for taking the picture! It was tough this time. The wind made it very frustrating for me because the bike wouldn't go where we were wanting it to go. At one point I felt like jumping in and swimming back, ha! The attendant must have seen my frustration because she asked if everything was all right when we finally did make it back in. Fun times. And yes, I'll do it again the next time we go. It's always fun even when it can be frustrating.
Late that night Sterling started throwing up. For the next two days she was violently ill. It came on with a vengeance. Our room host was so kind. We'll just say we gave him an extra large tip for taking such good care of us.
Day 3 was a stop in Nassau. We didn't have any real plans here. Which is how I wanted this trip. I wanted sunshine and warmth, and that's just what I got! My parents, Xander and I headed off the ship while Nick stayed on to take care of Sterling.
I took a picture of these canvases because I thought it was a neat idea. Sterling has collected a lot of shells from our travels, so this would be a fun project for her.

Day 4 was Lookout Cay. Nick and Sterling stayed on the boat. Sterling was still sick (starting to feel better).
Now, this island is controversial. This was our first time there. We didn't know where anything was. We felt lost on it. The beach area that we went to was very nice. Sterling would have loved it because this beach had big waves. She's my wave jumper. The sand was really soft, but no shells. Xander and I went walking around trying to explore it but just felt lost. Over the years as it grows, it will be better. All things get better with time.

I feel this island is better suited for younger kids, 8 and under. They had a really nice (and huge) water park and splash pad. Perfect for the younger crowd.
We went to have lunch, went shopping and then headed back to the boat. Xander's always ready to get back to the boat to run with his friends. I think next time I'll let him go back on the boat without me. That way I could sit at the beach as long as I want.

On the way back, Xander and I got a lift on the golf cart so that was nice. Although, the walk to the beach wasn't bad at all. It only took us 7 minutes and we didn't rush. It was super windy and our key cards almost flew off our necks, so next time we'll know to put them away as soon as we scan them getting off.

I sat on the balcony a lot that day. It's so relaxing and perfect for thinking. Oh and people watching, ha! Nick came out with me for a bit so I ran to get a new bucket of popcorn (Sterling used our other one for a throw up pail) and some adult beverages. It was a nice time!
That evening Sterling started feeling better so on day 5 she finally left the room. She was still cautious and nervous to eat, but we had a fun last day. We went to the theatre to watch Moana and while we were watching it, Nick started feeling sick. About 5 minutes after we got back to the room, he was violently ill. Ugh. The next morning we were getting off the ship so I was hoping his would be short lived. Since he fell ill, Sterling and I decided to leave the room so I wouldn't get sick and she wouldn't get sick again. We went to play Bingo! We will definitely play again. We also went shopping. Always a good time shopping!
The next morning we drove home. Nick was still sick, so I knew it would be an interesting 12.5 hours home. About an hour into our drive, he gave us a huge scare. He was moving restlessly and said he felt like he was going to throw up. So Xander quickly got the popcorn bucket from the back, gave it to me, and then it got scary. I tried giving it to him and he would not respond. It looked like he was having a seizure. We kept trying to get him to respond and nothing. Xander reached up and lifted his sunglasses and his eyes were wide as can be staring off. Still no response though. I pulled off and he finally came to life, but was still very weird. I was ready to find the nearest ER. We stayed for about 5 minutes and then he said he was good and to get back on the road. He slept for 10 hours! We made it home just around 9. He was sick all night and then fine the next day. It was a very weird bug! It's been a week since we've been back and Xander and I somehow escaped catching it! Thankfully!
After getting home we get the email we've been waiting for!
We're already looking to book our next one. Just have to figure out where we want to visit.
