Chit-Chat

Hello!  Sit back and let's chit-chat today.

We've made it to summer.  Meaning the humidity is here and we're melting.   It's the time of year where everything outdoors has to get done before noon or after seven pm.  We'd heard that the humidity was bad here, in VA, but we didn't think it was terrible when we lived 45 minutes north of here five years ago.  Nonetheless, we'll make the most of it and work around the sweltering days.

Kids are keeping cool by jumping on the trampoline while Ginger is below catching the sprinkles.

This week I have three appointments that I've been trying to get into for a few months.  While I'm really glad there here, I'm really nervous for one.  The mammogram.  I'm not nervous that it's going to hurt, but rather something will be found.  I don't suspect any issues, but with it being my first one, I'm just nervous.

Xander's been having chest pain, so we have him scheduled to see the cardiologist next month.  He's had an EKG and that was normal, so they just want to rule a few things out.

There's no tired like puppy tired!  This sweet puppy is doing amazing, but, taking care of a puppy is beyond tiring.  Drink water, outside 30 minutes later, for the next two hours.  Play.  Outside 30 minutes later.  We're basically outside all day.  The puppy bladder is tiny and I can't wait until she can figure out how to hold it and release it (all!) in the first squat.

Xander's been taking her out for the last time late at night since he stays awake so late.  I'm zonked out by 930, but a light sleeper and still wake up to make sure she was let out.  That's been helping so much, but today, I'm sleepy.

I decided to have the kids do end of year testing.  It's not required here, but I really wanted to see where they are at.  We should get the results back next week.  I know I planned for us to start back school in September, but, with us being inside more because of the heat, I'm leaning towards starting sooner.  Which is also why we have always started back in July.  I also enjoy the routine a school day provide.  I'm not at all ready to begin yet, but, I could be ready for mid-July.  I still need to get our reading list organized to align with our history unit and also pick out books that the kids will complete on their own.

We received Xander's new bed, so I'll be putting that together along with 3 bookshelves this week.  I wanted to do built-ins in our library space, but decided to buy bookshelves and then hopefully I can make them look built-in.  We'll see if my vision can come to life.  I just remembered, Xander's going to need new sheets and bedspread...I guess we're going to Target today.

Today just turned into an errand day.  The little dogs need more food.  I need to make a return to TJMaxx.  Of course we'll grab Starbucks while we're out.  That's a must.  Maybe I'll grab the kids lunch too.

Why am I so nervous to get the test scores back?!  Why do my kids not have a love for reading.  Well I guess Sterling enjoys reading, but, doesn't do it every day.  Maybe it's because I don't?  I'm trying to read more, but have a hard time finding time.  If I read at night, I fall asleep.  If I read during the day, my mind is scattered and I can't focus.  Like right now.  My mind is everywhere.  So, we've talked about it all.

That's what I've got today.  I hope you have a wonderful day!
