Lately

I thought it'd be fun to highlight something about each of us in this season of life.

Myself:  I've been busy planning projects for each month.  Little projects, big projects, I love a project.  Our deck was just completed so it's been nice enjoying that.  We get a nice cool breeze on it so our hot days don't feel so miserable.

I've also been working on all the homeschool prep to get us ready for next year.  Since I'm changing things a bit, I need to have all my ducks in a row before we start.  The kids will find my weakness and use it against me.  They're good!

Sterling: She has continued weekly horseback riding and basketball.  She loves them both.  She's a hoot playing basketball.  I love watching her.  She's the best defensive player on the team.  Hey other team, if you're going to stand there and dribble the ball looking for someone to pass, watch out.  She's coming in for a swipe and stealing the ball.  She's quick.

Xander: Basketball is his life.  He absolutely loves it and we go up to the community center on open gym days so he can get two hours of practice in.  He's so good and I love seeing his determination to be his best.  He's on the same team with Sterling so watching them work together with their teammates has been fun.  Xander's always been the shy, serious, reserved guy.  Not as much anymore though.  He's becoming quite the little mastermind.

Nick: This man is our rock.  He's such an encourager for our family.  Always coming up with new ideas and plans.  Some we love and others we warm up to.  I had a really rough school year teaching and he kept reminding my of our why.  It's hard to see that why when things get frustrating or go off course.  His calmness and easiness to talk to really helped.

We finished our homeschool year on May 4th and have really been enjoying our break.  We went to Great Wolf Lodge to celebrate finishing our chaotic year.  That trip was just what I needed.  I love the ages the kids are at.  They are independent and responsible enough to do the right thing (most of the time, ha).  They are kids, but, I love that I can sit on the sidelines and read a book, or wander around and watch them from the sidelines.

We're going to take a longer summer break than we typically do.  Normally, we start our school year mid July, but this year I'm not sure when.  I'm excited for the longer break as are the kids.  I'll share our summer plans next week.  What's something fun you have planned for summer?
