Carnival Day Setup

I came up with a list of monthly "fun" activities I would do with the kids throughout the school year and the one I wanted to do the most was to put on a carnival theme day.  I had it planned for us to do in October, but it didn't happen then.  I knew I still wanted to do it, so I pushed it to the end of the year to begin our summer with.  I mean, fun, right?!  What better way to start summer than with yummy carnival food, fun carnival games, prizes, and tattoos?!  In March, I started preparing for this fun day by collecting things I knew we'd need to make the day a success.

We planned to have the carnival on Monday, but, our rainy high humidity days leading up to Monday prevented us from getting our spray painting done.  But, on Monday, I decided we'll just spray in the garage and hope for the best.  Everyone helped out.

With everything painted, we decided to put the carnival up on Wednesday.  Set up was rather quick because we had everything we needed.

We decided on all our favorite games that we love to play when we go to an actual carnival.

Can Toss

Not really a game, but we had to guess how many Hershey Kisses and Starbursts.

The cakes were for an eating contest when everything was over with.

The prize wheel and popcorn.  Sterling came up what prize was associated with each number.  They were pretty good prizes.  Xander won $15 to Target, Sterling won $15 to Starbucks, and Jayla won a free Jimmy John sandwich.  So, Jayla's wasn't that "fun" so when we go to Target next, she'll be able to pick out something for $15.

Shooting Gallery.  We lined the plates next to each other to play, and shot the target gun at them.  It didn't work so well.  After the third shot, the gun failed and the kids didn't want to use a nerf gun.

Ring Toss.  My favorite game!  I collected Fresca bottles and had some glow in the dark bracelets.  Perfect game.

We also had clown balloons to make different things.  Sterling especially loved these!

We played balloon tennis.  This was Jayla's favorite.

Balloon Pop was the winner for Xander.

Horrible lighting because of the cloudy, rainy day, but we had so much fun.  The kids spent 3 hours playing games!  Three hours!  Way longer than I thought.  After games, the cakes were a hit.

It was such a fun day.  I'll share pictures of the kids doing the games next.
